TV reality star Kate Gosselin manipulated her fertility treatments to get pregnant with sextuplets, spanked her children so hard that she begged God to help her to stop and fell under the spell of her bodyguard to the point that she him named trustee of her estate to hide her money from husband Jon.
Those are the shocking claims in a new book about the famed mother of eight.
Kate Gosselin, whose reality television show, Jon & Kate Plus 8 was created around her family of sextuplets and twins, created her own road map to success and it began by a plan to have two sets of multiple births in her desperate search for fortune and fame, claims author Robert Hoffman in his new book about the reality star.
She needed to have eight children and she had a master plan, according to Hoffman, who began tracking every move of the Gosselins in the summer of 2009 as a reporter for US magazine.

Eight is too much: Kate Gosselin had a hard time keeping her kids -a set of twins and a set of sextuplets - in line
Beyond pregnant: Kate was huge when she was carrying the sextuplets. But she manipulated her fertility treatments so she would have the multiple births, claims the author Hoffman
Disturbed by what he witnessed, Hoffman decided to expose Kate in his new book, Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World – and reveal what he claims is the Gosselin house of horrors that exists behind her fantasy reality television show portrait.
Kate Gosselin dropped hacking and wiretapping charges against Hoffman last year after she successfully kept the book from being published. But now, just days after the Kate plus 8 special that aired June 19, Hoffman is making the book available.
Gosselin's representative did not respond to MailOnline's request for comment.
'What I discovered is that Kate Gosselin deliberately and intentionally got pregnant with two sets of multiples in order to become the working mom's Martha Stewart.
'Her eight children were mere props – pawns in her game to accumulate as much wealth and notoriety as she could,’ Hoffman charges.

ShareBorn Kate Kreider, the brunette turned blonde married Jon Gosselin in 1999 after a long search for a rich husband who could keep her in the manner she believed was her due, says the author.
She was regularly beaten by her father at home, allegedly 'sexually abused by a family member', aborted a high school pregnancy and left home in Philadelphia rebellious and sexually promiscuous.
She became a nurse to meet a rich doctor but hated the profession and was a self-described germophobe.
But Kate had big dreams: She wanted to be gifted the same way Bobbi McCaughey was, a woman in Des Moines, Iowa, who grabbed big media attention when she gave birth to septuplets in 1997.
The McCaugheys were showered with extensive and endless supply of gifts.
Out of control: Whatever her little daughter did, it was enough to deserve a spanking in Kate's eyes
Feeling the pain: Kate wasn't satisfied hitting her daughter, she had to squeeze her shoulders too
Kate's dreams were larger than McCaughey's. She was desperate to create a Supermom persona and formulated a master plan to build an empire bigger than Martha Stewart's
'She would be everything Martha Stewart was, only with a house full of babies to take care of as well. Every woman would look up to her; mothers of the world would adore her,' writes Hoffman.
She was going to be the 'working mom's Martha Stewart'. She didn’t even like or respect Martha and considered herself better than the doyenne of domesticity.
When Kate tried to copy Martha's success, she produced a cookbook that was ultimately cancelled by her Christian book publisher when they learned her recipes weren't original.
So it was on to baby-making and fertility treatments.
'She was desperate to create a Supermom persona and formulated a master plan'

On the second cycle of treatment, she was pregnant with twins. Just twins? That wasn't enough to achieve her dream. She needed more babies and she went to extroadinary lengths to make sure that happened, claims Hoffman in his book.
She settled on a doctor in Wyomissing, Pa, the town where she lived, who gave her injections of a drug called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, HCG, an ovulation inducer that helped her ovulate and release her eggs.
The 'African Doctor', as she called him, assured her that the injection could produce three or four good eggs for possible fertilization. That number was short of the big six she had in her head.
Friday, November 21, 2003, was the happiest day of Kate Gosselin’s life when the good 'African Doctor' confirmed that she was pregnant with six babies.
Marriage breakdown: Jon and Kate had their squabbles on air - and off. Kate ruled the roost but didn't want to do the work of raising a family
'How did our quiet little existence in the suburbs of Pennsylvania somehow blossom (or mabe explode is a better word) into a 'story' that someone wanted to tell on national television'? Kate Gosselin knew exactly how, claims Hoffman.
She began seeking out publicly and soon Discovery Communications, Inc. and its TLC network who became producers of her reality television show.
So began the fable of the loving Gosselins.
Kate had no maternal instincts, claims Hoffman. She had no interest in being a good mother; she was only in it for the and it quickly became obvious to anyone around her.
She assembled volunteers to do everything for her while she lazed around. Condescending and dismissive towards everyone in her presence, her extended family abandoned her.
With cameras in their home 24/7, the show quickly morphed from a normal family struggling to raise eight children to 'the escapades of a rich, spoiled brat of a woman, being chauffeured first-class around the globe, staying at four-star hotels and resorts, living the high life – during a recession – all at the expense of her eight children,' claims the author.
She stopped going to church and worked to market her kids, instructing any sympathetic reader to donate. On that list of immediate needs was a fifteen passenger van. When they had money in the bank, and were being supported by a family member, Kate claimed the family was destitute.
I only have eyes for you: Jon Gosselin was convinced that Kate was having an affair with bodyguard Steve Neild
Look of love: After a while Kate was traveling with Steve and leaving Jon at home to take care of the kids. They even went on vacation together
She asked relatives to give her money saying it was society's obligation to pay for the whole family. She requested funds from her church as well as college funding from the state she called 'love offerings' while speaking at churches.
She loved gift card donations from anywhere – freebies, freebies, freebies. She wanted lasik surgery for free. She wanted a gift card of $500 per week to buy clothing from Ann Taylor Loft, her store of choice – for herself. Gift cards came in from strangers including cards for Target, Walmart – totaling more than $750 per day of free gifts, claims the author.
Kate had Jon ask their dentist for free dental care. Put on the spot, the dentist said yes.
While all the gifts were flowing, life at home was a nightmare.
Kate had no patience with the children. She never played with them, didn't help them with their schoolwork. She hid in the kitchen and let volunteers take care of them but she meted out the punishments becoming easily enraged if they got dirty playing or disobeyed her with a very minor infraction.
She punished them with what she called 'the spanker' until the child 'happied up' according to Kate.
She wrote in her journal that she couldn’t control two-year-old Collin, one of the sextuplets. She had him sit in the corner for doing things she thought he did just to irritate her and was admittedly rough with her punishment.
She had meltdowns, made the children strip down, spanked them a lot, pulled them by their hair.
During his time as a reporter, the author befriended Jon Gosselin and was able to read kate’s journal, in which she confessed, 'I spanked them so hard!!! I felt like I may hurt his children. I grabbled him and spanked him as hard as I could and thought I may seriously injure him. I was out of control'.
She was so out of control she had to pray to God to help her stop, says the author.
When the two-year-olds got into the Kleenex box, she spanked all six of them and put them in a corner. When Aaden was on his fifth day of potty training, he had an accident on the floor that elicited a spanking. 'Kate felt that five days was more than enough time for a two-year old boy to become potty trained’.
Shush! 'Kate had meltdowns. made the children strip down, spanked them a lot, pulled them by their hair,' writes the author of a shocking book about Kate
She would throw all the kids' toys in the trash along with school projects, and kick the boys' Lego buildings into a million pieces if they weren't put away.
Discipline was the Gosselin children’s ‘normal.’ They got their daily spankings and Kate insisted they loved it, or so she believed.
The two family dogs, Shoka and Nala, were subjected to Kate's tirades and abuse when Jon was away from the house. 'Kate would use a stick, a spoon, a tube or whatever else she had to discipline the dogs for minor infractions that dogs commit, like tracking mud into the basement' after coming in from a pouring rain.
'She locked them outside in the freezing rain and snow and left them to watch the family through the basement windows'.
'Kate Gosselin is cruel and she seems to enjoy the power that she has over children, animals and adults'.
One of the boys was punished for having the dog, Shoka in the basement when he was supposed to be outside. The dog pooped by the door and Kate brought the child down to the basement, screaming at him and pointing out the mess. ‘
‘To show her complete domination of the child, she grabbed him by the back of his neck and forced his face down to within inches of the mess, trying to rub his face in it. He struggled and resisted and ended up with only a spanking instead of a face full of dog feces’.
Misery: Kate and Jon never looked happy together. And they weren't, says Hoffman, even wining and dining in Beverly Hills
She pushed one of the children outside in sub-freezing temperatures without a coat or hat because the boy failed to close the door properly when he came in. 'The child was screaming and crying and banging on the doors all around the house.' He was hysterical and bright red from the bitter cold.
'Sources of mine who are very close to the family, and who have been inside the house with Kate, have told me that Kate is a big drinker,' writes Hoffman.
'I have been told things like:“Wine is her drink of choice to take the edge off.”
“She drinks the cheap stuff. She regularly drinks an entire bottle of wine herself at night before going to bed. She also drinks wine during the day.”
“Kate has staffers buy the wine for her and bring it to the house in bags so nobody would know about it.”'
'The Gosselin children were nothing more than collateral damage in a business driven by greed'. Kate had no emotional connection with any of her children.
Jon Gosselin or a volunteer bathed and fed them, played with them while Kate created lists and barked out orders and focused on her tan, her jogging routine, her nails, traveling to New York City to get her hair done, shopping and tweeting.
The intrusion of television cameras in their lives greatly impacted the children as well as Jon. Kate had changed from the woman he had married.
'Thanksgiving 2008 was the first time the Neild’s came to the Gosselin house for a holiday. Jon thought it was very awkward because by this time, Kate had already decided that their marriage was over and Jon suspected it was because of her having an affair with Steve'.
'The fact that Kate was away with Steve more than she was home and Jon was left at home with all eight kids really started to anger him and get him thinking about them being together.
'He started asking her more and more questions about it which made her more and more angry with Jon. Whether or not they’re having an affair, the topic of Kate and Steve together was what really drove Jon and Kate apart'.
Jon finally refused to participate in Kate's greedy money making schemes, taking money from sympathetic people at her speaking engagements at church, lying to everyone about being poor.
'The moment he wanted the filming to stop, Kate no longer had a need for him. She came to view him as an enemy who threatened to destroy the rich dream world she had so carefully built'.
She refused to go into couple's therapy or marriage counseling. In Jon's mind, the only explanation for this is that she already had another man in her life and the only person it could have been was Steve Neild'.
Neild originally hired by Discovery, had been brought in to protect the children while Kate and Jon travelled for filming. But he became Kate's bodyguard, travel companion, manager and pack mule - and rumored to be her lover. He was rarely away from her side.
Master manipulator: Former reporter Robert Hoffman believes that cake was out for fame and fortune, and didn't care who she hut in the process, in his new book
Kate began traveling with Steve and leaving Jon at home to take care of the kids.
On family vacations, 'Kate took lots of pictures of Steve whether alone or playing with the kids’.
She refused any reconciliation with her husband and father of their eight children,
Steve was always included in the family's personal holidays. When he’s not by her side, they’re on their cell phones,
Kate offered Jon a contract saying he could have girlfriends and do his own thing in exchange for showing up for filming. She promptly fired the nanny beloved by the children because the nanny got along with Jon.
At Halloween, she'd drive the kids three plus hours down to Maryland to trick or treat in Steve's neighborhood.
'In the summer of 2009, Kate started removing large amounts of money from the Gosselin's joint bank accounts. Instead of depositing it in an account under her own name, she put it in a trust fund and chose Steve Neild as the trustee. 'The bodyguard,' writes Hoffman. 'The family friend who silently stands by Kate while hiding her lies and her secrets. The friends who turns a blind eye while she abuses her children'.
When Kate sat down to do an interview with Meredith Vieira on the Today show on October 5, 2009, she launched into her financial ruin sob story crying crocodile tears and saying she had a stack of bills in her purse that she couldn't afford to pay.
'She actually had at least ten bank accounts each containing $200,000 or more. In addition she had many investment accounts and her 2008 tax return showed an adjusted gross income of $1,954,414.00,’ says the author.
'In reviewing the events that created and fueled the Gosselin Family phenomenon, and ultimately turned it into a tragedy of epic proportions, one thing is very clear. The desire for money and power, caused eight innocent children to be exploited and abused in the most despicable ways,' concludes Hoffman.
